The Sullivan County Soil and Water Conservation District offers free soil testing for garden spaces through the PHISH Program (People Helping Improve Soil Health). This program helps gardeners better understand their soil and learn how to improve soil health for better plant growth.

As part of the PHISH program, a site visit is required with each soil test. During the visit, SWCD staff will collect soil samples from your garden and discuss your gardening goals, soil conditions, and recommendations for improving your soil.

This service is completely free thanks to the PHISH program.

If you are interested in having your garden soil tested, please complete the soil testing request form. Once your request is submitted, the SWCD Coordinator will contact you to schedule a site visit as availability allows.
